Western Discovery, LLC Presents Jazz to Jazz Vacation Featuring the Lake Tahoe Jazz Festival and Sacramento Jazz Jubilee May 20-29, 2005 This vacation experience combines the best of Jazz in two unique destinations for your enjoyment. First, take in the new Lake Tahoe Jazz Festival to be held in scenic Incline Village on May 20-22, 2005. This festival brings you the sights and sounds of traditional jazz in a magnificent mountain setting. Developed in consultation with the famous Sacramento Jazz Jubilee this event is sure to become one of the best celebrations in the area and promises to start your summer off right! Events will be held at the Cal Neva Lodge, the Hyatt Regency and at the Tahoe Biltmore. Your hotel is on the complimentary shuttle route giving you easy access to the venues throughout the weekend. Last year’s featured groups included Coronet Shop Suey (St. Louis), Hot Jazz Band (Budapest), Fulton Street Jazz Band (Sacramento), Big Tiny Little and the Show Band (Reno) and this year the entertainment will be as spectacular! A three-day pass and program (one per room) are included in your per person package price. The “master” package continues with a three-night stay in Reno, Nevada. Check into your choice of three hotels and enjoy leisure time for gaming, sightseeing and relaxation. During your stay you may want to play golf, visit one of the many museums, or join a sightseeing tour. We can set up your activities on an individual basis so that you don’t miss out on all the points of interest. OR, we will be happy to supply you with brochures so that you can do some area sightseeing on your own. See historic Virginia City where you can walk along the wooden sidewalks of yesterday, visit the museums and saloons or pan for gold; drive to Carson City, Nevada’s State Capital for a look at the Nevada State Museum or the Nevada State Railroad Museum; visit South Lake Tahoe and cruise the lake on the MS Dixie II Paddlewheeler; visit Genoa, the first settlement in Nevada, take a trip to mysterious Pyramid Lake; or just stay in Reno and enjoy the famous National Automobile Museum or our new Art Museum. There is so much to see and do! Continue next to the Capitol of California, Sacramento for a three-night stay. As you drive west over the Sierra Nevada Mountains you may want to stop at some of the area wineries, visit the Auburn Courthouse and Museum or spend time on historic SR 49 visiting the site where James Marshall discovered gold starting the California Gold Rush. Arrive in Sacramento and check into your hotel that places you in the midst of the Sacramento Jazz Jubilee events. This Jubilee is the world’s largest traditional jazz festival featuring jazz styles from the first 50 years of jazz history (1895-1945). In addition, several jazz-related music styles are presented including barbershop, blues, gospel, ragtime, salsa, swing, western swing and zydeco. This event features approximately 125 bands from around the world at over three-dozen performance sites clustered into five jazz centers around Sacramento.
